In the Spotlight
Amelia Michaels is a forty-something actress and mother of two who is always just on the brink of success, as she rushes from one casting mishap to another.

Amelia Michaels is a forty-something actress and mother of two who is always just on the brink of success, as she rushes from one casting mishap to another – like the time she auditioned for the part of a corpse but was too lively, or the time she had to travel on the number 49 bus in rush hour, dressed in full 1940s regalia that would make Dita Von Teese seem grungy. She has no idea what’s going wrong with her life. Why isn’t it all falling into place like the self-helps books tell you it should if it’s all ‘meant to be’ Surely, this is the career she was always destined to have: the one she would have had if she hadn’t met Dave, fallen wildly in love and blissfully pregnant just as her career had been about to take off. How can it be wrong when all the psychics she regularly visits tell her it’s just a matter of time before the gets her big break, resolves her karma and sees her life transformed overnight!?
